Filmmaker Arts Program

The Baron Jay Foundation trains Los Angeles area middle/ high school and college students from low- and moderate-income backgrounds on film. Students work with and are mentored by entertainment industry teachers. Students develop, write, and produce films, documentaries and PSAs. They also intern and job shadow on independent films and television shows. Workshops take place at their schools The Art Institute of California-Hollywood and Harvest Studios. Students also do ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions with industry executives. This program is designed for students who may otherwise have no exposure to the entertainment industry. We offer an avenue of self-expression to students who may have been stifled by the lack of opportunity and exposure to the entertainment industry right in their backyards. Students learn to be critical thinkers on many different levels: planning, follow-up, equipment operation, crew support and many other jobs.
